February President's Message

PHnw's annual conference is just weeks away, and while we've always had exceptional content, this year's conference has some of our most exciting presentations to-date, including - for the first time presenting under one roof - team members from North America's three largest Passive House projects (both planned and built)!

  • Of course we'll have our hometown Passive House heroes, the team behind the Orchards at Orenco, present the project that currently holds the title of North Americas largest multi-family Passive House, with 57 units (PHIUS).
  • Lois Arena, PE, CPHC, will discuss New Yorks Cornell Tech Tower, currently under construction and slated become the world's largest and tallest Passive House with 350 units, and 270,000sf over 26 stories! (PHI)
  • Kansas City's Second and Delaware Passive House project with 276 units, nears construction, and plans to bolts past the Cornell Tech project for the title of worlds largest Passive House with 320,000sf of conditioned floor area.  Both the developer, Jonathan Arnold, and CPHC Prudence Ferriera, will be presenting this exciting project for the first time at a Passive House conference. (PHIUS)

The groundbreaking achievements of these teams indicates important growth in our market, and the hope that our shared efforts to reduce the carbon loads of our buildings can take meaningful hold in U.S.

In addition to these exciting presentations, we'll have case studies (both single-family and multi-family), and presentations on software, materials, technology, and more!  And we've grown the conference to a two-day event, so you have more time to catch more great presentations. Sign up now!

 I'll see you there!

Michelle Jeresek
President, PHNW
